Active learning is the central element of our curriculum. Children learn through direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas.

The High/Scope curriculum is built around teacher-and child-initiated learning activities in five mainareas: approaches to learning; language, literacy and communication; social and emotional development; physical development, health, and well-being; and arts and sciences. Within these areas are 58 observable early childhood milestones that guide teachers as they plan learning experiences and interact with the children.

Our teachers have a firm understanding of childhood development, and have been trained to help your children focus on the important areas of learning through guidance and support. Children are assessed each Fall and Spring (Preschoolers are assessed three times each year).
| Our teachers give children a sense of control over the events of the day by planning a consistent daily routine that enables them to anticipate what happens next.
The central elements of the preschooler’s daily routineinclude the following activities: |
- Greeting Time
- Small Group
- Large Group
- “Plan-Do-Review”
- Outside Time
- Nap Time (1:00pm - 2:45pm*)
- Snack Time (morning and afternoon)

Healthy Snacks
Our staff lovingly prepares age-appropriate, nutritious snacks for each class mid-morning and early afternoon every day. The children are led in a short prayer prior to each snack time and at lunch. We insist on good manners at the table, and teach children how to clean-up after themselves.
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is critical to our success, so we encourage you to stop by your children’s classroom, and join us on field trips whenever possible. We can always use extra chaperones and/or help driving to and from field trip locations!

Field Trips & Annual Events
Each year we host a variety of celebrations, presentations and parties for the entire family including a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch, Scarecrow Factory, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Program, Fundraiser Auction, and Preschool Graduation. We look forward to your presence at these events. |
* Children have individual mats for their rest time.
